Garlic Sauce for Grilled Meats

This tasty marinade is great for steak or chicken, and can be used for meats cooked on your grill or in your oven broiler. The meat can be marinated for as little as 1/2 hour, or all afternoon. The smell of meat marinated and basted with this sauce is wonderful.

1/4 teaspoon salt

juice of one lemon

3 garlic cloves, crushed

freshly ground black pepper, to taste

l teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

2 to 3 ounces olive oil

Stir ingredients together by hand or in a blender. Put steaks or chicken in a plastic bag or in baking dish, and pour sauce over to coat. Refrigerate and marinate for 1/2 hour up to 4 hours. Grill or broil meat on fairly high heat, basting with sauce while cooking. Discard any leftover sauce.
